Hello! Awah here, one of the "mothers" of African Artopia, with a special welcome message. I was lucky enough to be born on a continent that's the most incredible and mysterious place on the planet.

For me, Africa is indescribably beautiful. It has magnificent creatures and unique landscapes, both in real life and in the African art and craft bubbling out of the imaginations of its peoples.

When I met Nadine (see her story on the African art sales page) and learned more about her project, I was captivated by her ideas and enthusiasm. I naturally followed my passion for African art.

Before I knew it, I found myself devoted body and soul to helping others in discovering the wonder of art from Africa.

I adore African artwork and cannot help but feel that it speaks to me when I look at it. It's telling me a story full of the history of art from the heart of Africa. It fills my soul with the mystery and myth that is Africa.

Art from Africa represents a whole, a fundamental agreement between religious thought and the object charged to express or serve that thought. Ancestral spirits inhabit ones body and help tell a family story.
